Choirs & Praise Team

The GBPC Music Ministries have exciting plans for the fall and upcoming holidays. We are growing and expanding our music ministries! Join us and be a part of sharing your faith through music. All musicians high school age and up are invited to join us. We have opportunities for singers to help lead worship by singing in the chancel choir or in our contemporary worship service. Our Contemporary Service is also in need of a keyboard player.  There are also opportunities for experienced handbell ringers to join the Alleluia Ringers, and flute players to join our Harmonious Flutes.

Rehearsals are:

Chancel Choir—9:30 am Traditional Service

When in our music God is glorified, and adoration leaves no room for pride, it is as though the whole creation cried: ALLELUIA! How often, making music, we have found a new dimension in the world of sound, as worship moved us to a MORE profound ALLELUIA! So has the church, in liturgy and song, in faith and love, through centuries of wrong, borne witness to the truth in every tongue: ALLELUIA! Let every instrument be tuned for praise! Let all rejoice who have a voice to raise! And may God give us faith to sing always: ALLELUIA!

The text of this wonderful hymn by Fred Pratt Green was written in 1972 for a Festival of Praise and is exactly what our mission is at GBPC through a music ministry that has grown by leaps and bounds. This mission of glorifying God with our musical offerings is also the vehicle we use to fulfill the stated mission of Great Bridge Presbyterian Church.

The choir has been privileged to make three  international singing mission trips.  The choir traveled to Germany and Austria in 2007, Scotland in 2012 and in 2019 toured Italy. Additionally, the choir has worked with some of the most well known composers in church music today including, Hal Hopson, John Leavitt, Mark Hayes, Joseph Martin and David Schwoebel.  Their annual Festival of Lessons and Carols is a much anticipated community and church service.  We would love to have you join us if serving the Lord through singing is your gift!

Rehearsals:

Wednesdays, 7 pm – 8:30 pm.

11:00 am Contemporary Service

Our goal is to glorify God through powerful praise and heartfelt worship. From songs you hear on the radio today to hymns that have a modern feel; whether you are brand new to church or you’ve been attending for years, you can expect to feel welcome at GBPC’s contemporary worship services.  The praise team is made up of vocalists, keyboard, bass, electric and acoustic guitars, and drums. We often add trumpets, saxophone, banjo and other instruments as well. We have a passion for worshiping God and ministering to others through contemporary worship music.

Through the use of video presentations, audio back tracks, and a wonderful sound and video team, we strive to create a place where all people are welcome and the spirit of God is ushered in and remains the center of our purpose. Our desire is to dive deeper into a relationship with Jesus Christ and give back everything He has gifted to us.

If you have the gift of music, technology (lighting/sound/media), organization and feel that God is calling you to be a part of the Praise and Worship Team at GBPC, we would love to hear from you.  There are many volunteers that assist and no gift of your time or talent, when given to glorify our Father, is too small.

Rehearsals:  Vocals begin at 7:00 pm while the band begins set up.  Full Rehearsal at 8:00 pm.
