Giving has always been a mark of Christian commitment and discipleship. The ways in which a believer uses God’s gifts of material goods, personal abilities, and time should reflect a faithful response to God’s self-giving in Jesus Christ and Christ’s call to minister to and share with others in the world. Tithing, which refers to the 10% that the people of God were encouraged to give to him in the Old Testament (see Leviticus 27:30), is a primary expression of the Christian discipline of stewardship. This is still a useful standard to which Christians should aspire. At the very least, we encourage members to commit a percentage of income to the work of the Lord through this church. Each fall we ask the congregation to submit a commitment card for the next year, which assists our leaders in planning for our ministries and missions.

GBPC maintains a separate building fund to cover building and grounds needs, such as renovating the playground of maintaining or replacing items throughout the building. Building fund envelopes are available in the pew racks.
