Deacons Meet 7:00 PM Meets the first Tuesday of each month
The Board of Deacons consists of twenty one members serving a three-year term. Every spring new Deacons are nominated and elected by the congregation, receive training from the Pastors and current Deacons, and then are ordained and installed as officers of the church. Each Deacon is assigned a "flock" of people who are members of the church or regular visitors. Each family will receive a letter and a magnet which informs them of the fact that they have someone available to pray for them and to help if they have a crisis; i.e., death, illness, injury, a loss, etc. Deacons can only respond if the member, family member or friend calls, so please keep it handy and feel free to use it.
The Deacon's role is to support members by providing friendship, prayer, support, and coordinating meals if needed. Help is available to non-members by calling the church office and a Deacon will be assigned, temporarily, to meet the existing need.Deacons are trained to keep needs confidential unless the member requests the help of the Board to pray for them or help them, in some way, as a group. Deacons Serve in many different ways including serving communion, serving as liturgists, praying for and supporting the youth, and forming support groups as requested by members of our congregation.
