 We share the love of God and His promise of salvation through a wide variety of music that spans centuries, cultures and styles. Our music ministry’s mission is to glorify God with our musical gifts. When our Flute and Handbell choirs play, when the angelic voices of our three children’s choirs fill the sanctuary, when our Praise Team leads in worship, when the Senior Adults, Youth Instrumental ensemble, and Youth Choral ensemble join in worship, and when guest musicians join us, we seek to celebrate our life with Christ and develop maturing Christians in all we do. Our dynamic music ministry involves hundreds of people, each one called by God to help lead in worship. Come and join the celebration! We are always looking for people willing to share their talents with us. There are many ways for you to be involved and serve the Lord through music here at GBPC.  “When in our music God is glorified, and adoration leaves no room for pride, it is as though the whole creation cried: ALLELUIA! How often, making music, we have found a new dimension in the world of sound, as worship moved us to a MORE profound ALLELUIA! So has the church, in liturgy and song, in faith and love, through centuries of wrong, borne witness to the truth in every tongue: ALLELUIA! Let every instrument be tuned for praise! Let all rejoice who have a voice to raise! And may God give us faith to sing always: ALLELUIA!” The text of this wonderful hymn (#264 in our hymnal) by Fred Pratt Green was written in 1972 for a Festival of Praise and is exactly what our mission is at GBPC through a music ministry that has grown by leaps and bounds. This mission of glorifying God with our musical offerings is also the vehicle we use to fulfill the stated mission of Great Bridge Presbyterian Church.

Welcome to a new year of teaching our children to praise the Lord through music! We are excited about teaching your children,  and look forward to seeing them grow in their faith and musical ability.Together, we can make a lasting impact on their lives through music that surprises, enriches and challenges them. All of our directors are committed to working with your children. In an effort to provide music for all of our worship services, we rotate our children’s choirs throughout the year into all of the service schedules. The schedule listed below is subject to change; however, your director will let you know well in advance if this is the case. Please do not hesitate to contact Billye Brown Youmans or your child’s director with any questions you might have. Look for e-mails! We have found this to be an excellent way to communicate effectively and efficiently with all families! Make sure your director has your family’s e-mail address, and be sure to notify us if it changes.
INCLIMATE WEATHER: On rare occasions, we have weather that necessitates adjusting or cancelling our evening activities here at church. As a general rule, we will follow the public school schedule. If daytime classes or after school activities are cancelled, we will cancel children’s choir rehearsals. We will make every effort to get our voice mail system at church updated to reflect the adjustment. Where necessary, we will notify television stations; however, this is the least dependable alternative. Setting up a phone tree between parents will be helpful as well. The safety of your children is our primary concern.

Are you AARP age eligible? Then you can join this merry goup of singing seniors. Periodically during the year we rehearse for a few weeks in preparation for special worship services.  Youth Choral Ensemble – Youth Sunday is May 2. We will begin our next round of youth choral ensemble rehearsals on March 21 – I’ll be contacting everyone!  Church member Jim Page, former Supervisor of Music Education for Chesapeake Public Schools, is interested in forming and directing this new music & youth ministry! Rehearsals planned for Sundays @ 6:00 pm. All strings, woodwinds, brass and percussion are needed!
