Spiritual Growth Weekends

Spiritual Renewal

GBPC is committed to giving direction and shape to the evangelistic part of the GBPC mission statement: “share the love of God and His promise of salvation with all people.” It is truly our desire that all people would enter into a relationship with Jesus Christ, making Him their Savior and Lord.

Walk to Emmaus and Presbyterian Pilgrimage are spiritual renewal programs intended to strengthen the local church through the development of Christian disciples and spiritual leaders. The two weekends share a common approach and syllabus, since they have a common heritage: a three day spiritual retreat in which the main activity is learning about God’s love for us and Christ’s will for us based on the model of Christ's servanthood and encouraging Christ's disciples to act in ways appropriate to being "a servant of all." The weekend agenda centers on a 72-hour short course in Christianity, comprised of fifteen talks by lay and clergy on the themes of God's grace, Christian discipleship, and what it means to be the church. The course is wrapped in prayer and meditation, special times of worship, and daily celebration of Holy Communion. It is a wonderful expression of God’s love, full of singing, learning, laughter, surprises, new friendships - all reflected in God’s people.

The Walk To Emmaus approach chooses that men and women attend separate weekends. The Presbyterian Pilgrimage approach encourages couples to attend together. Chose the approach that makes the most sense for you, but chose to go to one!
