Young Life Nicaragua or “Vida Joven” is the mission organization with whom we partner. We seek to build relationships with Nicaraguan people through our service of construction, club renovation, sports camps, Vacation Bible School and clean water systems. Vida Joven provides for our housing, food and purified water while there, as well as sharing their language, their hearts and passion for Jesus Christ.

2009 Trip Higlights:

3:30 am on Friday, August 7th the team pulled out of GBPC and made the bus ride to DC. The team of 47 arrived in Managua at about 8:00 pm on the 7th. During the week the team built a bridge which the camp will use for vehicle traffic. The new bridge and road (which we worked on last year), will allow the Vida Joven camp to not have traffic in the middle of camp where the Nicaraguan campers are walking. We constructed a walking path in the side of the mountain, and weeded and packaged coffee.

The team also did an onsite and offsite VBS for children who live in the community surrounding the camp. The children were given book bags, school supplies, and clothing. GBPC became the first church to make contact with youth at a school in Matagalpa. The team went into the school and had groups interacting with the students by doing hair/nail/make-up, making jewelry, and playing sports.

Team members were also involved in reflection teams with youth. Many member of the team
were personally touched by Christ through out the week. We had beautiful weather and were blessed by God through out the week.

Thank you for all of you support and prayers!
