Come join us for the Blessing of the Animals on October 9, 2022 in the Prayer Garden at 5 p.m.

The Blessing of the Animals is a beautiful service celebrating the human-animal bond, a long-standing tradition that originated as part of the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi, a 12^th century monk who had an amazing bond with animals. The hymn, “All Creatures of Our God and King” is based on a song composed by St. Francis of Assisi. We invite people to bring their furry, feathery friends (no snakes, please), leashed or caged, to our “Blessing of the Animals” service to receive a special blessing from Rev. Lou. Each year we designate a special organization doing wonderful work with animals and ask for donations to send to whatever organization we designate. This year we have chosen “Mutts with a Mission”, https://www.muttswithamission.org/. We are delighted to have “Demo” training with us at GBPC, a special dog being trained by Amy Brand, and part of the “Mutts with a Mission” organization.

All donations received will benefit Mutts with a Mission. Mutts with a Mission trains service dogs for veterans, first responders, and law enforcement personnel who have physical mobility issues or mental health challenges like PTSD as a result of their service. “Demo,” a service dog with Mutts with a Mission, attends services at GBPC.
